Why America?

The first matter to consider when transferring capital to a more reliable jurisdiction is the different offshore zones and islands. Until September 11, 2001, this matter was indeed worth consideration. But the world has changed, and after the U.S., E.U. and Russian-led crusade against offshore zones, not one of them can be considered a “reliable jurisdiction.” Let us say this: not one banana island will jeopardize its relations with Russia for your sake. And after the unprecedented arrest of the operations of YUKOS, technically conducted by offshore companies, no one even argues about this matter.
Muslim countries immediately fall out of the picture because of the huge difference in mentality. You could be asked to leave ANY Muslim country at any moment, and nobody will inquire whether you have investments, businesses, accounts. Moreover, the White House never said that the present-day list of countries belonging to the “Axis of Evil” is complete.
Africa? Are you serious?
China, Taiwan and Singapore we do not have to consider, since these countries are obviously not “reliable jurisdictions”: on the first entreaty, they will turn over both you and your capital to the Russian government. And do you know anything about the fortunate “Russian” businesses in these countries? By the way, have you tried learning Chinese?
True, not long ago, two “Russian” businessmen from China asked us for help. Though they did okay there, in the end they wanted to relocate to America. Would you want to live in China?
Latin America is very far, and it is doubtful that you will like the low standard of living in these countries (far lower than in Russia).
In the Baltic, there is a deficit of people to blame. Would you like to verify this?
Israel is nearly ideal for these purposes. But the heat, Yiddish, and incoming missiles from Lebanon and the Palestinian territories seriously distract one from business.
Europe, of course, is good. But again, there is the problem of learning a foreign language (a different one in every country!), plus insane taxes (more than 50% in most countries), in comparison with which Russian taxes look like a gift of fate. Thus, of all the European countries, only England and Ireland are more or less fitting for these purposes. And of all the countries in the world, essentially the following are fitting: U.S., Canada, England, Ireland and Australia. But again, if we consider taxes, Ireland and Australia drop off the list. So you have three countries to choose from: the U.S., Canada and England.
After you have decided on the country, the next question becomes, “How?” Our lawyers can help you emigrate to England or the U.S., but most of our clients invariably choose the U.S.
Why does the U.S. attract businessmen?
- The American market is the largest in the world.
- The U.S. has some of the most stringent private property laws in the world. Presidents and the elite may change, but your private property in no way depends on the political situation in the country. In fact, the political risk in the U.S. is the lowest of any country in the world.
- Of all the developed countries in the world, the U.S. has the lowest taxes.
- There is an agreement between the U.S. and all the countries of the CIA against double taxation. By paying taxes in the U.S., you completely and absolutely officially avoid having to pay taxes in all CIA countries.
- If you operate a successful business in the U.S., then you can acquire permanent residency (Green Card), and after five years, American citizenship.
- The American corporation is the most longstanding and internationally recognized form of organizing business, in which there is a distinct separation between the legal face of the company and the owner. From the point of view of the security of your business, and your personal safety, American corporate law allows you to institute nominal directors and shareholders. In all registration documents, the names of the nominal directors will appear.
- Nominal directors have no rights to company property, or to management of the company. But you, being a nominal director yourself, have the right to sign any document as either the owner of the company, or as a nominal director.
- This form of conducting business is very convenient for highly profitable businesses, where high profits might arouse the undesirable interest of tax services.
- After establishing a branch of your American corporation in Russia, or in other countries of the CIS, you are ensured of substantial customs privileges when importing products for your branch (automobiles, office equipment, furniture, etc.), the right to deduct a significant amount from your taxes (for expenses related to the operation of the branch), with zero taxes on investments, the right to use currency rates of the branch, and so on.
- After registering your firm in the territory of Russia (Ukraine, Kazakhstan) with 100% foreign capital (yours), you have the opportunity to easily transfer money in the form of dividends to your American firm
- Without additional permission, corporations can engage in nearly any form of legal activity, with the exception of a few, which require special licenses (banking, trust business, gambling industry, medical industry, etc.) You can open personal accounts in large American banks, and use corporate and personal credit cards to buy almost any products or services.
Besides all this, you have the further opportunity of getting credit in American banks, diverting your investments into American government bonds and on the funds market, and acquiring real estate and private property in America and other countries.
