The Necessary Licenses

Nevada
If the company is registered in Nevada, it is required to have a license so that you can carry out business activities – this is the so-called business license. Business licenses are the only hidden annual business taxes in Nevada. Business licenses are the State’s means for keeping track of actively operating businesses.
Until 2005, the license was not compulsory if the company did not carry out any business on the territory of the state. But today, it is compulsory to have a business license for all companies in Nevada.
Nevada has one of the simplest and most progressive tax legislations in the world. If you have a general business license you can engage in practically any business.
Only the following types of business require special licenses and registration:
- Gambling;
- Medical institutions;
- Banks and other financial institutions;
- Insurance businesses;
- Special construction companies;
- Attorney services;
- Hospitality business;
- Sales of weapons;
- Sales of cigars and alcohol
…as well as some other specialized types of businesses (e.g. carrying out electrical repairs).
California
The general business license is not required in this state. However, practically all types of business should have a corresponding license.
It is easier to list the different types of businesses that do not require licensing. Some of these licenses should be received in the state, while some of them in the city or county where the business is in fact situated.
Licensing is a very important element of the legal base of any commercial activities within the territory of the United States. The absence of the license required by the law is a very severe violation – subject to criminal (and not only corporate) law in a number of states.
